recvx-decomp reconstructs the source code of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X by decompiling the MIPS code in its PS2 executable back to C. Per its README, the engine, gameplay systems, graphics code, enemy AI and the CRI ADXT audio library are decompiled. It is marked Playable; the output runs on PCSX2 or a PS2, not as a PC port.

How to build it

  1. Clone the repository recursively.
  2. Copy SLUS_201.84 from your own game disc into the config folder.
  3. Supply the Sony PS2 SDK files yourself; only versions 2.0.0 and 3.0.3 work, and compile_config.json lists the paths the build expects.
  4. Run the setup, then the compile script for each build.

About the game

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X cover art

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is a port of the original game with additional content comprised of improved graphics along with an extra nine minutes of cutscenes. The character Steve had his hairstyle changed to have a noticeable fringe, and no longer proudly shows his forehead. This change was made to all cutscenes that feature him, as well as to the family photograph he carries with him. Apart from these changes, the game is almost the same as the original one.

She infiltrates Umbrella Corporation's headquarters in Paris, where she is captured and knocked out. When she comes to, she finds herself in a prison on a remote island. Freed by a friendly guard, Claire faces several problems. Not only is the island under attack by an unknown assailant, but there has been another outbreak of the T-Virus and the island is crawling with zombies and other mutated creatures. Claire not only has to face the undead, but also the commander of the base, a mad aristocrat with family ties to the origins of Umbrella Corporation and the T-Virus. About this project

The project asks that any AI-generated contribution be disclosed, noting that language models produced negligible decompilation results through 2024 and much of 2025. Groundwork has also been laid for decompiling the Dreamcast and GameCube releases of Code Veronica. As of Oct 18, 2026, no native PC port of the game meets Recompedia's inclusion rules.

FAQ

Is the Code Veronica X decompilation complete?

Its README says the game is decompiled, including enemy AI, which was the last part. Recompedia marks it Playable, meaning the decompiled build runs; it is a PS2 build, not a native PC program.

Is there a Resident Evil Code: Veronica X PC port?

None is listed on Recompedia as of Oct 18, 2026. recvx-decomp rebuilds the PS2 executable.

Does Recompedia provide the game, ROM or BIOS?

No. Recompedia does not host or link to ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files or game assets. recvx-decomp ships no game code or data either; it needs a disc image made from a copy of the game you own.
