god-hand-decomp is a work-in-progress matching decompilation of God Hand, the 2006 PS2 game by Clover Studio and Capcom. It rewrites the game's machine code as C and C++ that, compiled with the original toolchain, reproduces the NTSC-U retail executable, SLUS_215.03, byte for byte. It is In Progress and builds a PS2 executable, not a PC port.

How to build it

  1. Make your own legally dumped NTSC-U God Hand disc image, SLUS-21503 version 1.00. No game data ships in the repository.
  2. Clone the repository and follow its setup section to install the toolchain.
  3. Put the disc image where the setup expects it and build; the result is checked against the retail executable.

Story (via IGDB, in English)

When assaulted by a gang of vicious thugs, a shady drifter named Gene gets his right arm cut off. When he comes to, he finds himself with a young girl at his side, and his right arm reattached. But this is no longer an ordinary arm: it's been replaced with the legendary 'God Hand', and now that he's got it, Gene's on the hunt by every demon in the county, as they all want their hands on his. And with four powerful figures planning the demise of the world, things are probably gonna get ugly.

About this project

The README's version table lists the US release, SLUS-21503 disc 1.00, as the primary matching target. The build uses splat to split the executable and a linker script for ee-ld, and states that 100% matched code would mean a byte-identical executable. As of Oct 18, 2026, no God Hand PC port meets Recompedia's inclusion rules.

FAQ

Is there a God Hand PC port?

None is listed on Recompedia as of Oct 18, 2026. god-hand-decomp rebuilds the original PS2 executable.

Which God Hand disc does the decomp need?

The NTSC-U release, SLUS-21503, disc version 1.00.

Does Recompedia provide the game, ROM or BIOS?

No. Recompedia does not host or link to ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files or game assets. god-hand-decomp ships no game code or data either; it needs a disc image made from a copy of the game you own.
