ethteck/kh1 is a decompilation of the PlayStation 2 releases of Kingdom Hearts. It targets two versions, the original Japanese release, SLPS_251.05, and the Japan-only Final Mix, SLPS_251.98, each identified by a SHA-1 in the README. It is In Progress and rebuilds the PS2 executable; it is not a PC port.

How to build it

  1. Extract the ELF file from an ISO of your own copy of the version you are targeting and place it in the root of the repository.
  2. Run ./configure.py to generate the build files. It defaults to the original Japanese version; use --version fm for Final Mix and --clean to reset an existing configuration.
  3. Run ninja to build. The output is stored per version in the build folder.

About this project

Additional assets that are not used by the build can optionally be extracted from the ISO with the repository's extraction script; the README notes this is currently supported only for the Japanese version. The English-language releases are not among the listed targets. As of Oct 18, 2026, no Kingdom Hearts PC port meets Recompedia's inclusion rules.

FAQ

Does the Kingdom Hearts decompilation support the English release?

Not as of Oct 18, 2026. The README lists the original Japanese release, SLPS_251.05, and Final Mix, SLPS_251.98.

Is there a Kingdom Hearts PC port?

None is listed on Recompedia as of Oct 18, 2026. This project rebuilds the PS2 executable from decompiled code.

Does Recompedia provide the game, ROM or BIOS?

No. Recompedia does not host or link to ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files or game assets. ethteck/kh1 ships no game code or data either; it needs a disc image made from a copy of the game you own.
