Digital Devil Saga 2 is the second target of dds-decomp, the matching decompilation that also covers the first game. For the sequel it works from the USA release, executable SLUS_211.52, and reconstructs readable source that compiles back to the original bytes. It is In Progress and is built independently of the first game.

How to build it

  1. Make a disc image of your own USA Digital Devil Saga 2 disc; the README lists the SHA-1 of SLUS_211.52.
  2. Prepare Linux x86-64 or WSL2 with 32-bit i386 support, Python 3.10 or newer, ninja, cpp and git.
  3. Install the Python requirements and follow the quickstart with the dds2 version selected.

Story (via IGDB, in English)

Serph, Leader of the Embryon, wanders aimlessly through the lifeless streets before him. In the Junkyard, his tribe fought a gruesome war, hoping the light of Heaven would relieve their suffering. In the end, Serph's world vanished, along with the comrades who stood by him. All that awaited him in Nirvana were endless streets littered with the silent remains of human statues.

About this project

The quickstart needs a disc image of either supported game, so the sequel can be built on its own. As with the first game, the README notes that a byte-identical build is only part of the work: readable names and types come afterwards. As of Oct 18, 2026, no Digital Devil Saga 2 PC port meets Recompedia's inclusion rules.

FAQ

Do I need Digital Devil Saga 1 to build the sequel?

No. The quickstart needs a disc image of either supported game; Digital Devil Saga 2 is its own target, dds2.

Which Digital Devil Saga 2 disc does the decompilation need?

The USA release, executable SLUS_211.52, matching the SHA-1 in the README.

Does Recompedia provide the game, ROM or BIOS?

No. Recompedia does not host or link to ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files or game assets. dds-decomp ships no game code or data either; it needs a disc image made from a copy of the game you own.
