Digital Devil Saga Decompilation
dds-decomp is a work-in-progress matching decompilation of Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga for the PlayStation 2, USA release, executable SLUS_209.74. Its goal is to understand and document how the game works by reconstructing readable source code. The same repository also covers the sequel. It is In Progress.
How to build it
- Make a disc image of your own USA Digital Devil Saga disc; the README lists the SHA-1 of its executable, SLUS_209.74.
- On Linux x86-64 or WSL2 with support for 32-bit i386 programs, install Python 3.10 or newer, ninja, cpp and git.
- Install the Python requirements and follow the README's quickstart, choosing the dds1 version.

About the game
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga follows Serph and his four companions as they set out for Nirvana, a land that can only be reached by the champions of Junkyard. A mysterious object awakens demonic powers within the group, allowing each member to transform into a deadly beast. As one of these characters, you can devour your enemies and absorb their powers and special abilities. Defeat opposing tribes by protecting yourself from enemy attacks, deflecting their blows, and performing linked attacks.

About this project
The README is careful to separate two ideas: a matching build is not the same as a finished decompilation. Names, types and readable structure still need work after a function compiles to the right bytes. The project's build target for the first game is dds1. As of Oct 18, 2026, no Digital Devil Saga PC port meets Recompedia's inclusion rules.
FAQ
Does a matching build mean the Digital Devil Saga decompilation is finished?
No. The README says a matching build does not mean the decompilation is complete: names, types and structure still have to be recovered.
Is there a Digital Devil Saga PC port?
None is listed on Recompedia as of Oct 18, 2026. dds-decomp rebuilds the PS2 executable.
Does Recompedia provide the game, ROM or BIOS?
No. Recompedia does not host or link to ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files or game assets. dds-decomp ships no game code or data either; it needs a disc image made from a copy of the game you own.
Recompedia does not host or link to ROMs, BIOS files or game assets. Every project listed requires a copy of the original game owned by the player. Status checked against the project's own repository on Oct 18, 2026.
