Skate 3 on PC: The Recomp and What You Need
Published Oct 18, 2026 · 1 min

An Xbox 360 game running natively
Skate 3 never shipped for PC. It does not need to: skate3recomp translates the Xbox 360 version's PowerPC code into a native program for Windows, Linux and macOS. The game's own logic runs as ordinary code on your machine, reading the files from your own copy of the game.
The project is at v2.0.2 and marked Playable. Windows is the most tested build, followed by Linux, then macOS, whose ARM build is experimental.
The v2.0 native renderer
The biggest change in version 2.0.0 was graphics. Until then the port emulated the Xbox 360's GPU; since then it draws through its own renderer built on Direct3D 12 and Vulkan. The project reports more than twice the frame rate at roughly a quarter of the memory cost, covering gameplay, menus, HUD and loading screens in both APIs.
The new renderer is early, and the author notes the game has not been tested all the way through. Known issues are tracked on the Skate 3 page here.

How to set it up
The steps are short: make a copy of the files from a Skate 3 Xbox 360 disc you own, download the release for your system, extract it and run the game executable, then supply your game files as the README describes. The project ships no retail game files, and DLC needs your own Xbox 360 DLC packages.
On some hardware, the project suggests the Windows build under Proton may run better than the native Linux one.
On phones
Community projects take the same recompiled code further: three Android builds with Vulkan and one iOS build-from-disc setup exist. All are pre-release, and each is listed on the Skate 3 page with its device requirements.
Recompedia does not host or link to ROMs, BIOS files or game assets. Every project listed requires a copy of the original game owned by the player.
