RSDKv3 Decompilation brings the 2011 Retro Engine version of Sonic CD to Android and desktop systems. Release 1.3.3 includes an Android package and documented rendering fixes. You must supply remaster assets from a legally obtained copy; a Sega CD disc image cannot replace those files.

How to build it

  1. Prepare the Sonic CD 2011 datapack from a legally obtained release using the asset guide linked in the project README.
  2. Download v3-android.zip from the official 1.3.3 release and follow the project's installation instructions with your datapack.
  3. For video playback, use FMVs from your own original Steam release. Mobile and Origins video files are unsupported.

About this project

Sonic CD here means the 2011 Retro Engine remaster, not a static recompilation of the original Sega CD game. The repository documents Android builds and publishes v3-android.zip alongside desktop packages.

The November 2, 2025 release fixes parallax, fades, tinting and audio-track crashes and removes the Android screen limit. These release notes establish an implemented game engine, but do not certify every current phone.

The README permits supported official mobile and Origins game data, but only the original Steam release's FMV format works. A compatible gameplay datapack therefore does not guarantee compatible videos.

FAQ

Does a Sega CD ROM work?

No. Use assets for the 2011 Retro Engine remaster or supported Origins data.

Why do the videos not play?

Only FMV files from the original Steam release are supported; mobile and Origins videos do not work.

Does Recompedia provide the game or its assets?

No. Recompedia does not host or link to game assets. Supply the required data from a legally obtained copy of the game; the project download does not replace that copy.
